Southport Killer to Face Trial Over Prison Attacks

Southport killer Axel Rudakubana will face trial next year accused of throwing boiling water mixed with sugar at a prison officer at HMP Belmarsh. Appearing by videolink at the Old Bailey on Monday, he spoke only to confirm his name. He also faces two further assault charges and a weapon charge over sharpened stone shards. A provisional trial date is set for 8 October 2027.
