Residents on South London's Aylesbury Estate feel forgotten, experiencing crime and poor conditions despite regeneration promises spanning nearly three decades. Southwark Council recently changed its deal with developers Notting Hill Genesis due to slow progress on demolishing and redeveloping the notorious urban housing development. A 2025 council estimate found nearly 1,000 units were unoccupied, with 48 deemed squatted.
