South Korean chef could go to jail for serving ants on dessert
A South Korean court has received a request from prosecutors for a one-year prison sentence for a Michelin-starred restaurant owner. The 10 insect species permitted for consumption by South Korean food safety law do not include ants, and the restaurant lacked temporary approval. The owner admitted serving ants on sorbet for about four years, with prosecutors estimating around 49,000 ants were used.
