Sir Alex Ferguson was appointed Manchester United manager on 6 November 1986, and the club is marking 40 years since that day. Former first-team coach Rene Meulensteen told BBC Radio Manchester that working under Ferguson was the best time of his coaching career. Across 26 years Ferguson won 38 major trophies, including 13 league titles and two Champions Leagues, before he finally retired in 2013.
