Shetland Islands' £1.5bn plan to replace ferries with tunnels

Councillors on the Shetland Islands are expected to approve a plan for a system of undersea tunnels, replacing inter-island ferries. The project, estimated to cost around £1.5 billion, would initially connect the mainland to Yell and Unst. The council's environment and transport committee chairwoman, Moraig Lyall, said the project is now of national significance.
