Senior FIFA advisor quits over World Cup private equity plan
Carlos Cordeiro, an important consultant to FIFA's President Gianni Infantino, stepped down Friday. His resignation was prompted by his opposition to a scheme involving the sale of a portion of the World Cup's ownership. Cordeiro, who also served as FIFA's representative to the presidential committee regarding the World Cup, described the proposition as "detrimental to the sport of football."
