Scottish Tories win first by-election in 50 years
This marks the Scottish Conservatives' first Westminster by-election win in over five decades, taking the Aberdeen South seat from the SNP. Tory MSP Douglas Lumsden secured the victory, meaning he must now resign from Holyrood due to a ban on holding dual mandates. Lumsden, a former oil and gas worker, won by more than 6,000 votes, stating constituents want the oil and gas industry protected.
