Santander keeps 480 UK bank branches open until at least 2028

The Spanish-owned lender will maintain 480 sites across the UK after buying out its high-street rival for £2.65 billion in May. Chief executive Mahesh Aditya said physical locations remain vital, though the company already earmarked 44 branches to shut earlier this year. The group also reported a 31% drop in half-year profits after setting aside £179 million for a car finance scandal.
