Russia Tests New Nuclear-Powered Cruise Missile, Burevestnik

Russia has announced a test of its nuclear-powered and nuclear-capable cruise missile, the Burevestnik (9M730), and claimed the weapon travelled roughly 14,000 km (8,700 miles) and remained airborne for about 15 hours, according to Russian military leadership. President Vladimir Putin described the missile as “invincible” against current and future missile-defence systems. Russian statements also claim the weapon has an almost-unlimited range and unpredictable flight path — though independent verification remains unavailable.
