Russia begins repatriation of tourists from Cuba amid fuel shortage crisis

Russia has started flying its citizens home from Cuba in response to a deepening aviation fuel shortage that has disrupted flights to the Caribbean island. Rosaviatsia, the Russian civil aviation regulator, says Rossiya and Nordwind Airlines will operate return-only services to repatriate thousands of tourists before suspending regular routes. The fuel scarcity stems from a tight energy situation linked to US pressure on Cuba’s oil supplies, prompting travel advisories and cancelled flights.
