Russell fastest in Barcelona as 7 newcomers join practice

Fans got an early look at the pace ahead of the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix as several stand-in drivers joined the opening session. During Friday's first practice in Spain, Mercedes driver George Russell recorded the fastest lap, finishing ahead of Oscar Piastri and Charles Leclerc. Seven newcomers took part, while Luke Browning failed to complete a lap after an electrical problem kept him in the garage.
