Rubio says Iran attacked US destroyers first

Oil routes and ceasefire talks remain under strain after fresh fighting near the Strait of Hormuz involving American and Iranian forces overnight. Marco Rubio said in Italy that US warships travelling through international waters came under Iranian fire and America responded to defend itself during the clashes. Tehran said it targeted US military vessels after what it called a ceasefire breach by Washington involving strikes on “civilian areas”.
