Raids target companies sending spam texts about car finance payouts

Officials carried out searches across the UK on Wednesday as part of a crackdown on claims firms sending unwanted text messages. The Information Commissioner's Office, the UK's data watchdog, conducted seizures of phones and documents at properties and commercial premises associated with five companies. These firms are thought to have sent 170 million texts since September 2025 about the car finance mis-selling scandal.
