An RAF Poseidon aircraft from Lossiemouth was scrambled after a sanctioned, Russian-linked oil tanker sent a distress alert in the North Atlantic during Storm Boelo. HM Coastguard said the tanker, named MYRA, was battling waves of almost nine metres west of the UK. Once contact was made, its crew said the alarm went off in heavy swells, no help was needed, and the ship continued.
