The Bank of England has announced that four animals will replace historical figures on future banknotes after a public consultation. From a shortlist of 18 animals, the Atlantic puffin, barn owl, buff-tailed bumblebee, and European hedgehog were selected. The new designs, which will also feature the monarch, are still in early stages and will take years to produce.
