Protester avoids prison after scaling Big Ben with a Palestinian flag
Daniel Day spent over 16 hours sitting 82ft up the London landmark in March last year, leaving taxpayers with a bill of at least £92,000. On Monday, Southwark Crown Court gave the 30-year-old a 14-month suspended jail term for causing a public nuisance. During the stunt, he broadcast live video on Instagram and suggested he might remain up there for days.
