Prostate Cancer Drug Abiraterone to Be Offered More Widely in England
Thousands of men in England with prostate cancer will soon have access to abiraterone on the NHS. Previously, it was only available to men whose cancer had spread, but now it will be offered to high-risk patients whose cancer has not yet metastasized. Around 2,000 men diagnosed in the last three months will get access if it is of clinical benefit, with 7,000 more expected to be eligible each year. Trials show improved survival rates with abiraterone.
