Prince William redirects £1.5m Dartmoor Prison rent for local regeneration

Prince William will no longer personally receive the £1.5m annual rent from Dartmoor Prison, choosing to redirect the money to local community regeneration instead. He wants the income, from 2026-27 onwards, to help the Princetown area after the prison's closure created uncertainty about jobs and businesses. William received a private income of £21.6m in 2025-26 from the Duchy of Cornwall.
