Prime Minister Andy Burnham will review the Chagos Islands deal after US President Donald Trump criticised it as “terrible” and “ridiculous”. The comments followed their initial in-person discussions on Tuesday at the United Nations General Assembly in New York. The £3.4 billion deal would transfer jurisdiction over the Indian Ocean islands to Mauritius, the site of a joint US-UK military base.
