Boston investment firm Gordon Brothers will likely hire advisers within days to organise an auction. The current owners took over the struggling retailer in July 2025, shortly before a court-approved rescue plan shut up to 200 shops. The chain still runs about 600 UK stores but lost £79m before tax in the year leading up to September 2024.
