Poultry expansion plans risk UK food security, campaigners tell ministers
Campaigners say relying on intensive chicken farming leaves Britain exposed because the sector depends heavily on imported soy feed and vulnerable global supply chains. Environment Secretary Emma Reynolds said on Friday the government wants more home-grown food and is changing planning rules to help poultry farms expand. Sustain and Communities Against Factory Farming argue more support should go to beans and other plant proteins instead.
