Albanian police used water cannon and teargas as tens of thousands of students protested in Tirana over education costs and corruption. Demonstrators set fire to the education ministry building and a nearby bank branch. Authorities said 35 people were detained and 23 police officers and six others were injured. President Bajram Begaj appealed for calm, while protesters demanded the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama.
