Pine marten spotted in Worthing garden, first in 100 years
A critically endangered pine marten has been spotted in a Worthing garden, the first in East or West Sussex for over 100 years. Homeowner Andrew saw the rare creature on Sunday, reporting it to Sussex Wildlife Trust, the conservation group, who confirmed it. The last recorded sighting in the region was in 1923, with experts saying hunting and habitat loss caused their decline.
