Peacock Butterfly Wins Britain Public Vote

Garden visitors across Britain will recognise the species chosen as the country's top butterfly after a nationwide public vote. Butterfly Conservation announced the result on 12 June 2026 after more than 20,000 votes were cast across 60 native species. Orange-tip came second and red admiral third, while the peacock finished ahead of all rivals in the charity's first ranking of its kind.
