Panama Canal administrator says fuel costs may boost canal.

Escalating energy and fuel costs are likely to prompt global shippers to adjust routes, making the Panama Canal a more attractive option. Panama Canal Administrator Ricaurte Vásquez stated on Thursday that the Middle East conflict and higher fuel prices could ultimately benefit the waterway. Routing cargo through the canal can reduce journey times by three to fifteen days, depending on the specific path.
