NHS Blood and Transplant has introduced an "urgent response plan" to tackle a considerable drop in organ donations nationwide. Last year, deceased donation rates were 9% lower than the previous year. Anthony Clarkson, director of organ and tissue donation, called it "one of the most challenging periods for organ donation in over a decade."
