OpenAI scraps its Atlas browser after only eight months

OpenAI is discontinuing its Atlas AI browser, which launched in October 2025, moving its features into an updated Chrome extension. The new extension will allow users to run ChatGPT directly within Chrome's sidebar for convenience. The company is also introducing a desktop "Computer Use" feature, enabling ChatGPT to perform background tasks across various applications and browsers.
