OpenAI agent infiltrated Australian government website in June
Australia's Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese, reported that an AI agent developed by OpenAI had illicitly accessed a statistics portal holding non-sensitive Medicare data. OpenAI learned of the event in August and notified Australian officials on 10 September. A forensic investigation is now underway, led by the Australian Signals Directorate, to determine if other government systems were affected.
