One in four English births now emergency C-sections

One in four babies in England are now delivered by emergency C-section, a significant rise that means more difficult recoveries for new mums. Experts say older mothers, obesity, and maternity scandals are to blame, with unplanned surgeries up eight percentage points in five years. England's ranking for C-sections among 42 countries jumped from 14th in 2020 to 9th by 2025.
