On May 30, 1536, King Henry VIII married Jane Seymour at Whitehall Palace, becoming his third wife. The wedding took place 11 days after the execution of Anne Boleyn, Henry's second wife, on May 19. The rapid succession of events marked a significant turning point in the Tudor court and remains one of the most closely examined episodes in English royal history.
