Old British fridges struggle with summer heat
Record-breaking temperatures across Britain have left numerous fridges in UK homes and supermarkets struggling to function. Refrigeration experts say these appliances were designed decades ago for a much cooler world, typically operating up to about 32C. This means when temperatures rise above that, compressors work continually, leading to breakdowns and empty supermarket shelves.
