Ofcom fines Virgin Media £28 million for blocking customer cancellations

Ofcom, the regulator, has fined Virgin Media £28 million after the company made it very difficult for customers to cancel their contracts. Agents were found to have pressured customers to stay, put them on hold, or transferred calls to delay cancellations, often through a two-tier system. Virgin Media was also financially rewarding staff for deterring customers from leaving.
