Nvidia to Put $2B into Lumentum and Coherent
Nvidia said it will invest $2 billion each in photonics makers Lumentum and Coherent to support their work on components used in advanced data-centre optics. Both companies’ shares rose after the announcement. The funding is aimed at accelerating research, development and manufacturing of photonic products, which are important for high-speed data transmission in AI systems. Nvidia said the move reflects its broader strategy to enhance infrastructure for artificial-intelligence computing.
