Northern Ireland misses out on UK electricity VAT cut due to Brexit deal
A UK government VAT cut on household electricity bills won't apply in Northern Ireland because of its Brexit deal. Instead, Stormont ministers will get extra funding from the UK government to use for cost of living measures. The Treasury has stated that goods such as electricity in Northern Ireland are subject to EU VAT rates, meaning any alterations would require EU approval.
