North and mid Wales enter drought conditions after dry spell

Parts of north and mid Wales are the first areas in the UK to enter drought conditions, following a series of heatwaves and a drier than usual April to June. Natural Resources Wales confirmed the declaration last week, as the region has seen about 5% of its average rainfall for July. Tighter controls on water use and increased monitoring are now in place.
