Nicolas Sarkozy Begins Five-Year Prison Term Over Gaddafi Funding Scandal

Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy has started a five-year prison sentence after being convicted of accepting illegal campaign funds from Libya’s late leader Muammar Gaddafi during his 2007 election bid. Sarkozy, 70, arrived at La Santé Prison, becoming the first modern French leader to serve time in jail.
