New £1 billion electric trains coming to North England

Andy Burnham stated that a £1 billion initiative for 29 new battery-electric trains is set to provide quicker, more dependable travel across the North. Manufactured by Alstom in Derby, these trains are projected to reduce journey durations by as much as 10 minutes between Manchester and Leeds. The new fleet, expected to roll out at the end of 2034, will support thousands of British jobs.
