National Highways apologises for eight-hour M25 delays near Lakeside

Motorists faced an eight-hour delay on Thursday following a collision close to junction 31, which serves Lakeside Shopping Centre in Grays, Essex. Two lanes and an entry slip road on the M25 remained shut for the majority of the day, resulting in 10-mile tailbacks extending to Brentwood. National Highways apologised for the "severe disruption" and will review its handling of the incident.
