MPs Call Sizewell C Nuclear Deal 'Terrible' for Taxpayers

UK Government, OGL v3, via Wikimedia Commons

The Commons public accounts committee says the government's plan to part-fund the Sizewell C nuclear plant in Suffolk is a terrible deal for taxpayers. MPs warn costs could climb to nearly £48bn, leaving billpayers to provide a further £9.8bn before 2040 and £12bn across its operating life. Ministers hold a 44.9% stake, alongside EDF, Centrica and other investors. The committee described the risk as extraordinary.
