Mount Etna eruption sends ash a mile high, closing Catania Airport
Europe's most active volcano, Mount Etna in Sicily, erupted on Sunday morning, sending ash plumes about a mile into the sky. Italy's National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology elevated the aviation alert level to red. Catania Airport suspended all incoming flights until 5 am on July 6, with ITA Airways cancelling or rescheduling its services.
