Modi calls for open and safe Strait of Hormuz

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi called for an open and safe Strait of Hormuz during a brief visit to the United Arab Emirates on Friday. Modi met UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and inspected an honour guard before continuing his trip to the Netherlands. His plane was guided in and out of UAE airspace by military jets in a sign of the heightened security situation in the Gulf.
