Microsoft has unveiled Maia 300, the third generation of its in-house artificial intelligence chip, to reduce its reliance on Nvidia's graphics processors. The company wants Maia to become the main system running AI tasks across its products from 2027. It claims the chip delivers about 40% more output per megawatt than leading GPU systems. The chiplet design is made using TSMC's advanced N2P manufacturing process.
