Microsoft removes Excel's COPILOT() function

Microsoft is removing the COPILOT() function from Excel, which previously enabled users to articulate tasks using ordinary language to obtain AI-generated outcomes. The tool was first announced in August 2025 and had been in testing with some users for over a year. Microsoft says other, more effective ways to access AI capabilities are now available in Excel, like the Copilot side panel.
