Microsoft now making its own AI after OpenAI split

Microsoft is now making its own AI models and tools from scratch, directly competing with OpenAI after their partnership ended. At its annual Build conference on Tuesday, the company unveiled seven new AI models, including MAI-Thinking-1, its first reasoning model. AI chief Mustafa Suleyman said they need to prove they can become one of the top four AI labs in the world.
