Met Office warns of heavy rain and flood risk

Amber alerts for rain and flooding have been put in place by the Met Office from midday to midnight on Friday as Storm Claudia, named by Spanish meteorologists, approaches the UK. Central and southern England, along with Wales, face the highest risk. Forecasts indicate some locations could receive up to 150mm of rain in 24 hours, with widespread totals of 40-80mm. Gusts may reach 70mph, increasing flood danger.
