Man Sought £7m Over Fake Home Office Injury

Man Sought £7m Over Fake Home Office Injury

Jonas Magnus Lystad, CC BY-SA 4.0, via Wikimedia Commons

A High Court judge ruled that Vengadeswara Raw Gopalakrishnan deliberately fabricated a claim of psychiatric injury from 2013-14 immigration detention, seeking more than £7 million from the Home Office. Surveillance showed him driving, gym training, go-karting, delivery driving and taking children to school. Partner Reena Mathew, presented as his carer, had been with him over a decade with three children; the judge called it scandalous.
