Man charged for wearing burkha at Portsmouth protest

Police have accused a 76-year-old man of hiding his identity, alleging he wore a burkha at an anti-immigration protest in Portsmouth on Saturday. Timothy Miller, who lives in Southampton, is scheduled to attend Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court on Monday. Police had previously indicated they would invoke provisions of the Crime and Policing Act to detain individuals who wore face coverings during the demonstration.
