A magnitude seven earthquake struck Baqên County in Tibet's mountainous Nagqu region on Thursday night, killing at least 16 people and injuring 32 others, according to Chinese state media. About 339 homes collapsed, power was cut and rockfalls closed roads, slowing rescue teams in the high-altitude area. Authorities declared an emergency. Information is limited because foreign media access to Tibet is tightly restricted by Beijing.
