Prosecutors and defence lawyers have suggested a June 2027 trial, while Nicolás Maduro's legal team plans to argue he should be immune from prosecution as a head of state. Reuters says US Special Forces captured Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores in Caracas in January, and both have pleaded not guilty. The hearing on Wednesday will help set the timetable for one of the highest-profile US criminal cases in recent years.
