Lord Mandelson received £75,000 after ambassador role ended

The payment of £75,000 in taxpayer money to Lord Mandelson has been called "unacceptable" by a Cabinet Office minister. Documents reveal Mandelson received the sum after his appointment as UK's US ambassador was ended in September last year. This payout included £40,329.50 in lieu of notice and prevented a potentially costlier legal claim, though he first sought over £500,000.
